Papier Mache Bear

Since late January I've been attending an informal workshop with some other contributers of Linework (a Columbia College comics and graphics anthology.)  Above is one of the projects from this workshop, which was to build a 3-dimensional toy/character.  Photos of the finished character will be up soon.  As the workshop is coming to a close you may also find me posting a few photos from other exercises undertaken over its course.

Pause 'n' Draw

Pause 'n' Draw can be described as a night of drawing prefaced by some folks equipped with a Scattergories die, a 20-sider and a dictionary finding their way to a random movie title.  Or at least that's how we found our last movie.  More concisely, a randomly chosen film is paused at intervals with time taken to draw from the still frames in any way desired.  Below are a couple of sketches from the first two rounds.

Rosanna's robotic doppelganger in Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs, 1966.

Beethoven finds the keyboards at the mall in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, 1989.

The Movie I Watched Last Night

Some illustrator friends and I are developing the habit of getting together to watch films, periodically pausing to draw from the still frames.  Between this and my love for Harpo, you can expect more film sketches!

Linework 4 Preview

The 4th issue of Linework (a Columbia College comics and graphics anthology) is due for release this spring.  Here are a few detail shots of my contribution at various stages of completion.  I'll be posting the full piece by the time May comes around.

1970s Coloring Book

A friend and fellow illustrator found an unusual coloring book from the 70s and after scanning some pages, shared them with friends in the hopes that we would fill in the pages.  I'll be posting finished pages in the coming weeks while balancing out some other projects.  But more information on that later.

Chelsey

After 19 years my cat passed on, this Saturday, the 10th of November. I felt the need to share sketches that have been made over the years, some fairly old, others more recent.

Teaser: More Illustration on the Way!

See, I have been drawing things.  Just a detail shot for now of a story I am developing. Hope to have some panels inked and ready to share next month.

Barn Owl Hand Puppet

I know I haven't been posting regularly.  But be assured, I do have some illustration projects in the works, I promise.  In the meantime here's a papier mache hand puppet I finished not too long ago.
