Here's a little practice sketch for a story I'm working on about a hiking trip taken with a friend.  There may be some watercolor on its way.

New Comic

In May, Chicago's Newcity began a feature called Linework, a comics section edited by Ivan Brunetti.  I have a comic in this week's issue.

Take a look at the following link to see other comics by Linework contributers: http://newcity.com/category/news/linework/

Linework 4

You may remember some detail shots posted at an earlier time for my contribution to the fourth issue of Linework. Here's a view of the completed piece, and a better view of the first page.  You can currently purchase the issue at Shop Columbia, on 623 S Wabash Ave in Chicago, as well as at Quimby's.  I can say it's full of work by a lot of talented folks coming out of Columbia College, and suggest you take a look.

Koi Pond Rain Barrel

Sorry for the lack of updates, folks.  I consider it a personal failure on my part.  Here's one to begin anew.  Just finished this rain barrel commission.  I feel like I have to remember how to paint all over again each time I do a project like this.  It came together more or less, though.

Another One From the Workshop

The result of an exercise whereby a drawing (the mechanical illustration on the right) was interpreted in an effort to re-imagine the image with an organic approach to the line quality.  I enjoyed using a brush for the ink work here, which forced me to loosen up.
